Lucy McIlhinney (Co-Opted Governor)
Chair of Governors, Chair of the Finance & Resources Committee and member of the Teaching & Learning Committee. I am a qualified solicitor who specialised in Employment Law. Deborah Hind (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Finance & Resources Committee, Teaching & Learning Committee and nominated governor for safeguarding. I currently have one grandchild left at SPS, but previously five grandchildren have also attended the school. I support the commitment and wonderful work that the staff are committed to providing on a daily basis to educate and nurture. I work as an Operations Manager at another primary school in Bristol, so I am aware of what is needed to provide an excellent education for all children.
Matthew Melias (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Finance & Resources Committee and nominated governor for Health & Safety. I work in the Aerospace industry and am currently elected to the City Council. I have two children at SPS. I've found the experience of being a school governor rewarding and it's given me an insight into what goes on behind the scenes at our wonderful school.
Becky Macfarlane (Parent Governor)
Vice Chair of Governors and Member of the Finance & Resources Committee. I worked as a Retail Manager for 15 years and now work as Operations Manager for our family business. I have two children at SPS and wanted to become involved with and support the school and create more links between the parent community and Governing Body.
Matt Turner (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Teaching & Learning Committee and nominated governor for SEND. I am a qualified teacher and am currently studying for a MA in Politics. I also work on a casual basis as a Caseworker for a nearby MP. I attended SPS as a pupil and later came back to teach here so becoming a Governor seems like a natural progression. Our school is a vital part of the community; I am proud to be a part of it and the great work it does.
Louise Vesely-Shore (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Teaching & Learning Committee and Finance & Resources Committee. I work in law enforcement, providing specialist support and advice to police and partners across the UK. I have a background in psychology, and have worked in the area of missing persons for many years. Through my work I have seen how important our early years are in shaping our futures, and I am proud to have the opportunity to support my local community in this way.
Emma Young (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Teaching & Learning Committee, and Finance & Resources Committee. I work for a non-departmental government body focussing on data protection and corporate security. I have had a previous career in children’s social services. As a Shirehampton resident, and a volunteer reading coach for adults, I want to be able to support an inspiring school to give children the best start in life.
Ben Ashenden (Co-Opted Governor)
Member of the Teaching & Learning Committee, and Finance & Resources Committee. I am business owner with many years of experience in the Financial and Legal sector who specialises in Secured Finance and Inheritance Tax Planning and Estate Planning. I also have 10 years' experience in the military with operational tour in Afghanistan. I am a proud dad of two lovely daughters and I feel that providing support to a local school and helping them improve the environment, wellbeing and engagement of children in the early years is so important as it is on shaping our futures. I am proud to be a Governor and to have the opportunity to support the school and its local community.
Alexia Graveney (Parent Governor)
My background is in project management and external communications, currently working on one of Europe's largest construction projects, with a skillset that can be transferred to my role as Parent Governor. Supporting our community and school is incredibly important and I'm really pleased to be able to work with our school from parent's perspective. I am also a trustee and treasurer for the LWOOSA & SOOSA charity that delivers after school care.
