Everyday life in Year 5
Check this page to find out what we get up to in Year 5!
We've had a busy time this term in year 5. Here's what we've been up to.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and carers that came to our family challenge. We all had a great time. It was great to see so many of you.
In art this term, we have been looking at Jon Tremaine, who is based in Cornwall. His art is incredible and we like to think our year 5 artists have done him justice.
If you haven't heard, we have some chicks at school. This was a great opportunity to show off our newly learnt skills! With the great weather, it also gave us chance to take our learning outside.
The children researched types of bread and came up with their own recipes for flat bread. Here are the results.
In our topic lessons, we have been learning about rivers. This gave us an ideal opportunity to visit the river Avon to draw its surroundings.
Towards the end of term 4, we had a real focus on teamwork. One of our activities was the chair challenge. The children really enjoyed this activity. They showed us how strong they are when they work together!
Today we were very lucky to have a visitor in Year 5, who taught us all about how people can aim to get a law changed or a bill passed in the houses of parliament and how to make a party manifesto so that the we can build a more democratic future for our children.
The whole of KS2 also received an assembly where they found out about how the houses of parliament work and the three stages a bill must go through to become law. Maybe your children could tell you all about it at home!
