Curriculum Coverage - what we learn
The Early Years curriculum is being revised and becomes statutory for all early years providers in September 2021. At Shirehampton Primary School we are 'Early Adopters'. This means we are one of 2,800 schools trialling the revised curriculum this year.

The EYFS compromises:
1. PRIME AREAS OF LEARNING:
Communication and Language
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2. SPECIFIC AREAS OF LEARNING:
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
3. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF LEARNING:
The Characteristics of Effective Learning are interconnected with the ‘Prime’ and ‘Specific’ areas of the EYFS curriculum. These are key areas underpinned in our environment and practise as they detail how children learn.
