A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. This is what we are striving to achieve at Shirehampton Primary School.
Every child engages in quality music education from their entry into Nursery until the end of KS2 in Year 6. In the Early Years, music is incorporated consistently into daily routines and is used to enhance teaching of the core curriculum. Pupils participate in weekly music assemblies and a curriculum music lesson with a specialist Music teacher. KS1 have weekly lessons for two terms each school year and KS2 for three terms.
The Music curriculum handbook detailing the progression of how this subject is taught across our school, can be found here.
