Shirehampton Primary

Events in school

This page will keep you up to date with all the exciting events we carry out at Shirehampton Primary School.

At SPS we love school trips and exploring he exciting world around us to help us learn about topics we may be studying. Parents are very welcome to help out on trips. In order to do so you will need to sign our Code of Conduct for Parents and Volunteers on School Trips. When we organise a school trip the office will send out a letter; if parent volunteers are needing the letter will ask you to contact the school office if you can help us out.

11th - 15th January 2021

For the week 11th – 15th January we are having a theme week called LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION. During this week we will give your children the opportunity to look at the creative arts in a different way.

We will be:

  • using film to inspire writing
  • learning how to perform poems
  • having a go at different forms of animation
  • doing a variety of drama activities
  • singing Disney songs!

It will be a fun-filled week which we are all looking forward to.

1st - 31st October 2020

October is BLACK HISTORY MONTH and as usual we will be learning about and celebrating the contributions that black people have made to society.  We will be thinking about the achievements of black Britons and especially black Bristolians. At an age appropriate level, we will also be considering the recent media coverage and Black Lives Matter movement.

Thursday 8th October 2020

October is dyslexia awareness month. The nation will shine bright in red to celebrate our children and we would love to show our support. On 8th October children can wear a small red accessory to help raise awareness and show support. Come on Shire let’s see how bright we can shine in red!

Thursday 15th October 2020

On Thursday 15th October, at Shirehampton Primary School, we are having a Rainbow Mindfulness Day. Lessons will be taken over by            rainbow themed activities and your children are invited to wear brightly coloured clothes to school.  We want to celebrate the key workers who have continued to play such an important role during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will think about what we are thankful for and celebrate all that is good.  The school kitchen will be cooking a special menu for the day (you can find it here) and there will be lots of activities for your children to enjoy.
