Flu Vaccinations 2021-2022

School Aged Flu Immunisation and Vaccination 2021/22

The Childhood Influenza Immunisation programme will be delivered in schools across the whole of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire by Sirona care & health.

Flu can be an unpleasant illness and can sometimes cause serious complications such as middle ear infections and bronchitis.  By vaccinating children, it not only protects them but also others that are vulnerable to flu, such as babies, older people, pregnant women and people with serious long-term illnesses.  Receiving the flu vaccine has historically reduced sickness levels in schools and workplaces.

Flu vaccination is one of the most effective interventions we have to reduce pressure on the health and social care system this winter. We are currently seeing the impact of COVID-19 on the NHS and social care, and this coming winter we may be faced with co-circulation of COVID-19 and flu. Those most at risk from flu are also most vulnerable to COVID-19. We must do all we can to help protect them this winter.

Please be assured that the latest government guidelines will be adhered to whilst delivering the Childhood Flu Programme.

Sirona Care and Health are running flu catch-up clinics outside of school for any children who did not receive the flu vaccine in school.
