Shirehampton Primary School

Religious Education (RE)

At Shirehampton Primary School, RE is taught as part of our curriculum. It is important in its own right and also makes a unique contribution to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils and supports wider community cohesion.
Our RE curriculum objectives are taken from the Agreed Syllabus for Bristol: Awareness, Mystery and Value.
Religious Education is currently taught through a themed, cross-curricular approach: one whole day each term. Throughout KS1 and KS2, we encourage children to ask relevant questions as they learn about a range of beliefs and practices. We discuss diversity and similarity and the importance of respect and dialogue between people who have different faiths and viewpoints.

The RE curriculum handbook detailing the progression of how this subject is taught across our school, can be found here.
